Höegh Oslo, Norway
The international shipping firm Höegh has an 80-year history of shipowning and operation as well as real estate and financial advisory services. The new Head Office in Oslo was completed in 2006. Together with the project’s interior architects, Scenario Interiørarkitekter, and with the Norwegian photographer Espen Tollefsen, ICArt developed a technique of transferring high-quality art photography to glass.
Having situated all conference areas along the outer walls of the building, Scenario needed a fourth wall for each area which would screen meeting participants while letting daylight from the windows through to the inner core. The number and size of these walls could easily have dominated the interior of the building, and it was therefore crucial that the solution should be of high quality and finish.
Espen Tollefsen is a respected photographer whose portfolio includes both artwork and commercial work. He hails originally from above the Arctic Circle in the north of Norway, and therefore has a close connection to the constantly changeability of the sea and the coast. His sensitive photographs of the many faces of the sea impart a meditative core to the atmosphere of the public areas as well as the conference areas.
The photographs have been printed on translucent film by specialists in London.
