Royal Caribbean International, USA / Navigator of the Seas
Navigator of the Seas is the fourth of the five ships in the Voyager class, the largest ships in the RCI fleet before Freedom class..
For each new vessel, ICArt creates the unique artistic direction or “red thread” – which creates a new and distinct character for each ship’s art collection. Unlike the previous ships in the Voyager series, the art program on Navigator of the Seas features art for the sake of art. There is a wide representation of art mediums, with an emphasis on framed and two-dimensional artwork.
Paintings are featured on the Main Stair. The Starboard side shows representational paintings, featuring a wide variety of motifs such as landscapes, till-lifes and interiors; while the Port side features abstract non-representational paintings that use color and abstract form in various ways. Photography is the featured medium on the Forward Stair - color photography for Starboard and black/white photography for Port. The curatorial direction for the photographic art is nature and its many forms.
